I love travelling and I do love a bargain too. I am very careful when I pick and plan my trips, to make sure I get the best deals. When I say under £150, I include the following – the money it costs me to get to the airport, the flights and the money I spend during the trip for food, transport and souvenirs. Here is a list of 6 of my favourite international day trips from London Gatwick.
Dublin, Ireland – £82
This is an easy and quick trip. Flying with RyanAir, than getting a coach to the town. Dublin is easily walkable and has a lot to offer. It’s ideal for budget travel from London.
Nice, France and Monaco – £115
One of my favourite extreme day trips from London! The French Riviera is stunning and the trains are cheap, so a trip to Monaco is quick and affordable.
Alicante, Spain – £110
Looking to visit a castle and spend some time on a sandy beach under the shade of a palm tree? Look no further than Alicante. Castillo de Santa Bárbara en Alicante is free to visit and the views it offers are amazing!
Zurich, Switzerland – £137.50
For me, this trip came to £153.50, which is slightly more than £150, but I spent extra £16 to visit the Lindt Museum of Chocolate and eat as much chocolate as I can. Totally worth it! I could stare at the Zurich’s Lake for ages. Train travel was very well organised and getting and from the airport was straight forward.
Basel, Switzerland – £147
In one day, I have been in France, Switzerland and Germany! I even visited the point where the three countries meet. I also found a park where you can take a walk from Switzerland to Germany and there are no borders.
Lanzarote, Canary Islands – £95
Yes, I visited the Canary Island for less than £100. It was an extreme day trip that I will definitely remember. The weather was great, the atmosphere was chilled and I was even able to walk from the airport to the main town by following the coastline.
