Read my travel diary from my trip to Palma De Mallorca in April 2026.
I flew out of Gatwick around 09:10 and it took about 2 hours to get to Palma De Mallorca. We arrived ahead of schedule.
As I am a EU citizen, I easily passed through the electronic gates scanning my passport.
I took the A1 bus from the bus stop that is short walk from the exit of Arrivals. The trip took a out 15 minutes as I left the bus at the second stop, so I could walk along the Promenade and take photos.
After about 10 minutes, I ended up near the Cathedral, which is the most famous landmark in Mallorca. I walked along the streets behind – they are just perfect for photos – narrow, colourful and full of atmosphere.
I visited the Arab Baths, which is one of the very few buildings left from the Islamic Period in Palma. Entrance costs €3.50, but can only be paid cash.
I walked to Marcat De L’Olivar and bought some oranges and mandarins. On my way there, I had a potato omelette in one of the restaurants. Palma gets extremely busy and even though it’s not exactly the holiday season, it was full of people in the Central parts of the city.
I then hiked up to Castell De Bellver to see Palma from above.
I decided to walk to my hotel which turned into an hour hike up the steepest streets ever. It was a massive challenge, especially with the heavy backpack I have been carrying all day.
I went to see the Cala Major beach, famous for it’s blue water. The beach was very busy even though it was almost 19:00.
I checked in the hotel and went back out. I grabbed dinner from one of the near-by restaurants and had it on the beach, which by 20:15 was almost empty.
I finished the day, watching the mountain from my hotel balcony.

- Palma Promenade
- Catedral-Basilica De Santa Maria de Mallorca
- Park De La Mar
