When I booked a trip to Dublin in late 2024, I didn’t know this was going to change my life forever. I have been travelling the world solo for one year now and this changed my perspective of the world and who I am as a person.
… have visited 3 continents
Europe, Africa and Asia. I can’t wait to see more of each of these continents! And, of course, to conquer the rest.
… have experienced 20 new countries
From day trips to week-long stays, from busy cities to rural towns, I fell in love with each place I have been to.
… have appreciated 5 seas and oceans
I love the water and the beach. I walked along the beach in Schenvingen enjoying the long summer days by the North Sea. I have also explored the beach walk of Lanzarote with its tall palm trees.
… have seen countless landmarks
From timeless cathedrals to the spectacular domes of Istanbul’s mosques, there is a reason why millions can’t wait to explore the world’s most famous landmarks.
… have tried local foods everywhere I have been
As a foodie, I explore countries through their flavours. I enjoyed pizza in Italy, Hungarian langos, Austrian schnitzel and many more.
… leant that I can be self-reliant and independent
I have always been very self-reliant, but when you are faced with last-minute flight cancellations, unclear public transport connections and all sorts of challenges in a place you don’t really know, and you still make the most out of your stay, you build confidence that no one can even knock out of you!
… don’t need much in my backpack to fill my heart with joy
Learning to travel light and take only what I need helped me see more of the world, without worrying about heavy suitcases and extra luggage fees.
… enjoy imagining what it would be like to live where I am visiting
I like going to places where locals go, eat the food they do and watch how they go about their lives. I like imagining what my day would look like if I was to move to the place I am visiting.
… changed my style and the way I look
I get inspired by every place I go. I now aim to dress like a local everywhere and this changed the way I see style and fashion.
… have savoured views that make me rich for life
I have seen the sunset over the coast of Nice, the Canary Islands from the sky, the colourful houses of Nyhavn, and many more…! The world is beautiful!
… learnt that there is always a way if you keep going
Usually, the first night, wherever I am, is when I question my life choices. I miss my dog, Stitch. My anxiety ramps up and makes me wonder, why I am even so far away from my comfort zone. But the next day, I wake up, go out and explore. This is when it all starts to make sense. This is when I realise why travelling is what I want to do!
… love sharing my adventures with the world
One year ago, I had no idea that I was going to become a travel writer. Now, I have theninaadventures.com, I speak with tourism boards from all over the world, I read all sorts of travel magazines and books and I love creating content!
… coming back home feels special every time
I love travelling. I also love coming back home from a long trip into the unknown. Stitch, who will always be happy to see me. The magnets I put on my metal filing cabinet. The treats I bring and often share with Stitch. It’s priceless.
I am now looking forward to the next year, full of adventures.
