The Stand

The World Travel Fair in London is one of the biggest travel and tourism events in the world. Almost every country on the planet attends it and presents its best – food, traditions, nature.

One of the best stands in the 2025 show was undoubtedly Kazakhstan – it was simply impossible to miss, with some people (like me) returning for more a few times. There were people in traditional costumes, snacks made with native ingredients, local fruits, leaflets featuring stunning images of a land that very quickly joined the top of my travel wish-list.

The People and the Food

In the photo below you will see some of Kazakhstan’s national delicacies that the tourism board presented at the event. For a foodie, like me, this attracted me to their stand immediately.

What I stayed for, however, was the friendly people, passionate about their country and the wealth of history, culture and nature it has to offer.

Why I want to visit Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is proud of its nomadic heritage. It offers vast untamed nature and stunning landscapes. It’s one of the countries linking Asia with Europe and a crucial point on the Silk Road.

Kazakhstan presents a fascinating mixture of cultures, traditions, heritage and ethnic identities. This country is considered the homeland of apples and domesticated horses. Although it’s the 9th biggest country in the world, Kazakhstan is one of the least densely populated. Consider this next time you want a holiday away from the crowds!

Now let’s look at Kazakhstan’s largest city…

Why I want to visit Almaty

Almaty is this beautiful city with shiny tall buildings surrounded by picturesque mountains. There you can enjoy a walk along a leafy boulevard, a walk around a turquoise lake or even an adventure down the ski slopes of near-by Shymbulak. A place where you can enjoy nomadic cuisine in modern reinterpretations.

This city is at the crossroads of geography and history, so I am sure it will be a great place to visit!
